Editor's Review:

‘The Flat Belly Diet’ is a diet and fitness book that aims to provide dieters with all of the information they need to lose inches from their waist in a matter of days. Written from both medical knowledge and lifestyle experience, the authors adopt a relatively unique approach of measuring waist-size, instead of weight, as a way of tracking diet progress. ‘The Flat Belly Diet’ has already proven astronomically popular, with millions of copies being sold across the world – and with promises that dieters can lose the first few inches from their waist in just four days, and more than a stone in the first month, we can see why!

The starting point for the ‘Flat Belly Diet’ is Monounsaturated Fats or ‘MUFA’s’. Foods containing these fats are known to improve the breakdown of excess body fat, so menu plans on the ‘Flat Belly Diet’ are naturally rich in them. The diet begins with a four day anti-bloat jumpstart, which aims to flush out excess water and waste from the body and sees many dieters lose half a stone and 5 inches from their waist on average. Once this part of the diet is over, dieters can follow the four week meal plan to continue the good work and burn more belly fat. In addition to the diet plan, ‘The Flat Belly Diet’ also contains a ‘Flat Belly Workout’ intended to strengthen stomach muscles and pull everything together.

As well as all of the features included in the ‘Flat Belly Diet’ book itself, the diet also has a number of companion features on the ‘Flat Belly Prevention’ website that all dieters are encouraged to join. Here, dieters can log their food intake with the food journal, receive menu suggestions based on their favorite or most commonly eaten foods, ask questions and talk to other dieters about their experiences. Dieters can also access online nutritional information about their diet and check out a wide collection of healthy recipes for inspiration. Similarly, dieters can also pick up a number of other books in the series, including cookbooks, exercise guides and recipe collections in order to supplement the information in this book to make the diet more suitable in the long term.

Although taking part in the diet in the long term could be expensive, as dieters will almost certainly want to pick up a few more of the books in the series simply to add some dietary variety, we’re sure those rigidly following this plan will see results in no time at all. If you’re willing to take active steps to reduce your belly fat, and are willing to make a few sacrifices along the way, this book could be the one for you!
